Common Thread Day is Saturday in Milford

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A Tri-State sewing bee of sorts is happening soon. It will help many people with significant health challenges in the community.

For those who sew, knit, or crochet and would like to find out more about joining others to help area hospitals and organizations, they're invited to Common Thread Day.

Common Thread is made up of people all over the Tri-State who sew for a cause.

“We make for charitable organizations. So, we work with hospitals, hospices, churches, schools, and anyone who has a need for a quality-of-life item,” said Janet Murphy, Common Thread co-chair.

She and co-chair Laurie Winkler recently appeared on “What’s Happening in Health,” which is now 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Sundays on Local 12. On the show, the two shared what they made.

But she and Murphy both emphasized that not everyone has to have needlework skills to get involved.

“You don't have to knit, sew, or crochet to be a volunteer for Common Thread. If you just want to help, you can maybe cut the fabric, or you can turn things inside out that have to be turned inside out. We really have something for everyone,” Murphy said.

Common Thread Day is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School cafeteria. The school is at 5890 Buckwheat Road in Milford.

Those who would like to attend are asked to RSVP by 12 p.m. on Friday, July 12. Text or email Murphy (513) 703-7950 or [email protected]
